NEWS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ASPSU Hosts Welcome Event - "ASPS-WHO? MEET YOUR STUDENT GOVERNMENT"
Date: October 25, 2009

On October 28th, 2009, ASPSU or the Associated Students of Portland State University will host its
first open panel event titled “ASPS-WHO?: Meet Your Student Government.” The event is open to
all interested students, administrators, faculty, staff, and community members. The purpose of
the panel is threefold: to formally introduce the 2009-2010 ASPSU administration to the student
body, to introduce its primary campaign goals this year, and to provide attendees an opportunity
to both ask questions and voice their concerns. The panel will take place in the Multicultural
Center of the Smith Student Union from 10-12pm.

The panel event will feature all four of ASPSU ‘s branches of government: the Executive Staff,
Student Fee Committee, Student Senate, and Judicial Board. ASPSU Interns and volunteers will
also be present to provide testimonials and address any questions or concerns from the
audience. The event will include opening remarks from ASPSU Student Body President, Jonathan
Sanford, Vice President Azadeh Chitsaz, and other members of ASPSU, after which the floor will
be open to questions.

“ASPSU has done great things for students at PSU since we took office on June 2009,” says
President Jonathan Sanford. “ASPSU, for example, has been running a massive, non-partisan
voter registration campaign and we hope that we can continue to empower students and let
them know who we are and that we are working hard for them.”
