The ASPSU Executive Staff includes the President, Vice President, Chief of Staff, the Administrative Director, the Communications Director, the Legislative, University, and Multicultural Affairs Directors, the Equal Rights Advocate, and the Outreach & Funding Coordinator. We're the ones that organize to get things done! We establish and maintain our platform for the year, run major campaigns like VOTE, promote, educate, and lobby for legislation that would benefit students, act as figureheads for the student government as a whole, and generally dedicate our lives and livelihood to advocating for students. And we can't do it alone! Because our goals are so large in scope, we need as much help as we can get. We have the greatest capacity to take on interns throughout the year, so if you're interested in getting involved and acquiring some great training and experience while earning leadership credit, stop by and we can discuss where you'd fit in best within ASPSU.

Our 3 yearly campaigns:
No matter what we do for this year, we have to support students on campus to: stay in school, graduate, and become engaged in our communities. This is how we gauge how we are supporting students. We believe that through our campaigns, students will have the best opportunity to succeed at Portland State. If you disagree or have any suggestions, please add a comment below!
#1 Shared Governance with Portland State University administration (click here)
PSU is changing. Our median age is lowering and there have been many signs from PSU administration that the wave of the future is "traditional" students (younger with more finical resources). We believe the median age of PSU is lowering since working people, mothers, fathers, veterans, people of color... our least supported communities are being priced out of an education. While the PSU administration may be looking to the future we see our population suffering now, and by having a say in the way PSU supports the students and faculty we can make a direct impact on graduation and retention rates.
#2 Inexpensive and subsidized housing (click here)
As part of what we campaigned on, we are combating the rising cost of education through the housing on campus. As part of the few large costs that a student has, housing holds many possibilities to keep the cost of education reasonable. With the use of research to understand the costs to students, many officials have recognized that we have to keep housing costs low if we are to keep a campus community. This is especially important for our communities of need such as student parents. It is a logical assumption that the more housing we have on campus, the more supported and connected our community will be, meaning better graduation rates, more civic engagement, and a higher retention rate.
#3 Truth and Reconciliation on campus for healing (click here)
It is a glaring reality that people in our communities of need are suffering. Portland is in fact not as liberal as it may seem and this campaign was created to give people a way to speak out with out repercussion from either side of an issue. Inspired by a speach Desmond Tutu gave here in Portland around June
LISTEN HERE we believe we can bring healing onto campus and institutionalize the event so that our communities in the future can gather each year to heal.
